Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) is a leading provider of mental health, learning disability, social care and other community-based services in Kent & Medway. What drives all of us is our ambition to provide ‘Brilliant Care through Brilliant People’. We are looking for three new non-executive directors as long-serving board members come to the end of their tenure, and we are expanding the board’s capacity with the addition of two Associate non-executive directors. We are also keen to support and develop future talent, and are offering the opportunity for those whose background does not yet meet the requirements for these roles, to experience life as a non-executive director through an attachment to the board.
With integration and collaboration at the heart of a transformation the way we work, partnership structures are changing to support an increasing emphasis on a system-wide approach - where things can be standardised and aligned around the priorities set out in the NHS Long Term Plan. It is essential that we work across organisational boundaries to meet local population needs and that our patients remain at the heart of decision making.
We are finalising our own organisational strategy for the next five years, which will ensure we play our part in the new ways of working in a way which best benefits the mental health needs of the people of Kent and Medway now and in the future. As an organisation with a strong Good CQC rating, with an overall Outstanding for Caring, we are ambitious and keen to deliver a consistently outstanding service across all 66 sites and 1,500 square miles for the 1.8 million people in Kent and Medway.
The board needs brilliant people who can role model our culture and values and provide the right balance of support and challenge to our talented Executive team so they, and the Board, can be the best version of themselves. So, we are looking for individuals who, as well as meeting the experience requirements of an NHS non-executive, also bring a diverse range of lived experience of the services we provide onto our board. This could include experience of gender and women’s issues; or it could be experience of working with issues related to Younger People, socially deprivation, or disability; or it could be that you bring personal insights of LGBTQ+ issues or through being open about your faith.
As a non-executive director you will shape strategy, monitor its execution, and play an active part in our system Boards; you will offer support and challenge through our Board and Committees, bringing new approaches and best practice insights as to how we do this in our Trust; you will demonstrate the desire and commitment to the leadership and ambassadorial responsibilities of being a Board member, spending time with our staff, our services and our service users to better understand and demonstrate our commitment to our purpose.
